Workplace Wellbeing

During the global pandemic we have seen a massive and unprecedented upheaval of working practices across all job sectors. Job insecurity has increased with many employees experiencing long periods of furlough from their jobs and others experiencing job losses. Employees who were office-based before the pandemic became home-based almost overnight leading to significant changes in working practices amidst the uncertainty of the pandemic. Whilst working from home may have benefitted some employees by reducing the cost and time of commuting, it has been detrimental in other areas. Many employees have been forced to work from make-shift workspaces, others have had to balance the demands of caring for others which has caused additional stress. The prolonged lockdown and subsequent restrictions has curtailed our social activities and contacts, leading us to living in a more virtual world. Many have missed the everyday informal interactions with colleagues that create a pleasant working environment and support team building.

However, organisations continue to have a duty of care to their employees and during the pandemic mental wellbeing has risen to the top o the agenda for many organisations. As we move on from the pandemic , many organisations are seeing a rise in the levels of fatigue and anxiety amongst their employees. By providing mindfulness training, organisations can address these issues as well as supporting the overall wellbeing of their employees.

Mindfulness training enables us to become purposefully aware of what we sense and feel moment-by moment whilst bringing an attitude of curiosity and kindness to our experience. There is growing evidence that mindfulness training can reduce stress. By bringing mindfulness training into workplace, organisations can offer their employees evidenced-based and practical techniques that not only help with wellbeing in the workplace but also in daily life.
