Through Mindful Yoga we explore how to find stillness through movement.
In Mindful Yoga classes gentle stretching, balancing and strengthening exercises are taught in a safe and secure environment. Mindful Yoga classes are accessible for everyone regardless of the physical condition of our bodies or our level of fitness. In Mindful Yoga Classes we build moment-to-moment awareness of our breath and physical sensations as we place our bodies in different postures.
In Mindful Yoga classes we practice mobilising our powers of attention and awareness when we are in movement. Achieving a certain form or shape is not important, nor is this the goal. In Mindful yoga classes we learn to tune into our breathing. By moving our bodies with our breath, we are practicing finding stillness through movement. We are practicing meditation, just as when we sit to meditate.
In a Mindful Yoga class, the most important ground rule is that you listen to your body. Only you can do this. You are encouraged to explore your bodies limits but are also supported to take care of your needs. You are encouraged to learn about your own limits and boundaries for your body.
Unlike some other yoga classes, we are not focusing on what our bodies are doing. In Mindful Yoga classes we are exploring, finding and inhabiting the domain of being. Every time we move into a different posture our awareness changes and Mindful Yoga classes helps us explore what it is like to change our perspective. By doing this we can explore how we can bring these lessons into our daily lives.
